PLATE REF: 094-COMMUNAL-TABLE
Documenting how a derelict Oadby knitwear frame shop became an intimate kitchen and dining room over 18 gruelling months.
Acquiring the old dry-goods storefront on London Road. Underneath layers of damp plasterboards, we uncovered original Edwardian hand-cut brickwork and the beautiful, sweeping bay window frame that gives us our name.
While craftsmen restored the window lead-work with salvage from Charnwood forest, our chefs established direct supply lines with local smallholders. Heirloom beets, Leicestershire rare-breed pigs, and orchard fruits.
The completed 16-seat window. Guests sit elbow-to-elbow in a room lit purely by candle and the glow of the wood embers, overlooking the historic Oadby lanes. An immersive local culinary performance every evening.
Candid snapshots from our preparation line, our partner farms, and the daily theatre at the Window Table.
